Sandy Romenesko, the former Executive Director of the Mt. Sterling – Montgomery County Industrial Authority, was recently awarded the prestigious Hall of Fame Award by the Kentucky Association for Economic Development (KAED). This honor recognizes her exceptional leadership and significant contributions to economic development in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Romenesko led the Mt. Sterling – Montgomery County Industrial Authority for more than 20 years, where she was instrumental in driving the community’s growth through innovative recruitment and retention strategies. She played a pivotal role in shaping the region’s economic future, ensuring Mt. Sterling’s inclusion in the Bluegrass Alliance, a vital partnership for regional economic development.
In 1989 she began her career at the Winchester-Clark County Industrial Development Authority and before going to Mt. Sterling, Romenesko served as the executive director of the Kentucky Industrial Development Council, the predecessor organization to KAED, where her influence and dedication laid the groundwork for many of the economic development successes across Kentucky today. Throughout her career, Sandy was deeply committed to her community, and her leadership continues to be felt by the businesses and individuals who benefitted from her efforts.
Now retired, Romenesko’s legacy lives on through the ongoing success of the initiatives she championed. Her leadership continues to inspire those in the field of economic development, and her care for the community remains a lasting testament to the difference one person can make.
