KAED Spring Conference
KAED hosted the 2016 Spring Conference in Pikeville presented by Kentucky Power last week and we are calling it a huge success.  With over 130 registered attendees, informative presentations, generous sponsors and a rockin’ band, Pikeville rolled out the red carpet for our group!  Thank you to everyone who sponsored and attended the conference.  And congratulations to Ruthann Padgett of Madisonville-Hopkins County Economic Development Corporation for winning the free 2016 Fall Conference registration fee – checking in to our online Guidebook at the conference paid off!  Next week you will be able to view pictures of the event on our Flickr page and print the speaker presentations.

KAED Scholarship Deadline for EDI is TODAY
Economic Development Institute (EDI), is a basic economic development course held in Oklahoma each year.  Information on the course can be found here:  EDI.  KAED offers scholarships to this course and that information can be found here:  KAED EDI Scholarship.  The deadline for the EDI Scholarship application is close of business today, Friday, April 22nd.

KAED Final Public Policy Update
FRANKFORT — The Kentucky General Assembly’s 2016 regular session ended  Friday, April 15, shortly before midnight, capping off a session in which lawmakers approved the state’s next two-year budget and numerous other measures that will impact people throughout the state.  Most new laws – those that come from legislation that don’t contain emergency clauses or different specified effective dates – will go into effect in mid-July.  A partial list of bills approved this year by the General Assembly includes measures on the following topics:  Continue reading the entire review here:  KAED Public Policy Review 2016.  And listen to Representative Sannie Overly address KAED here.
